I can't wait til they get here...I'm so stoked! I've got a new stator, a new R/R, new (and much bigger) brakes, new 17" wheels and tires, and here in a couple days I'll have a really nice suspension front and back.

Are ZRex shocks direct bolt ons??
If so, I know a couple of guys that have replaced the stuff on their Rex with aftermarket shocks, and I might be able to score a pair for really cheap, too.

Nope...they are the opposite on the bottom (clevite, I think?). Nothing a little jb weld won't fix

If hes afixing those to his 750, he'll need to change the mounts on either the shock or the swingarm. The Zrex uses eye to eye mount. That particular GS uses eye to clevis. Zook seemed to not be able to make up their mind on which they wanted to use, as many different models used either or.

Wonder what the open & close lengths & spring weight is on them.. They might be a straight bolt-on for the 1000G.

Well here's the plan:
I've got two options. A: Install the FZR600 swingarm and YZF600R rear wheel, and weld mount tabs to the swingarm...then brace the swingarm. B: Pull my swingarm off my 1979 model 750 anf weld the proper tabs on it, then brace it.
I don't like A: because I don't really want to run the Thundercat wheel...sure it's wide and I can run a 160mm tire, but I don't really want to run a 160mm tire at this time. I could stick with the 18" FZR wheel and have a completely bolt-up setup, but I don't really want an 18" wheel.
I like B: better, but it's not as convenient.
I may say to hell with it, weld the proper tabs on the swingarm that's ON the bike, and build a new swingarm on the side...a proper braced tuber.
However, for anyone who really thinks of doing an eye-eye shock, I'll be making some pretty spiffy tabs for the conversion. You'll have to cut off your existing mount and the tabs wrap around the tubing and will need to be welded full radius. Works great.

That's something that's really irked me. A sawzall and moderate welding ability completely cures it. I'll have a set of tabs made up tomorrow and post pics so you guys can see what I'm talking about. Hopefully, he'll get the shocks in the mail tomorrow...since it's only 125 miles from me I hope they get here Saturday.

scratch the whole thing...just spoke with the man and he says he "can't find the shocks". I guess I can't whine considering the deal I was getting, but it sure does make my heart sink just a little...
