Yep, just a big ole machined hole into the throat of the carb. I'd say, seeing as how he said they came in a kit, that they are the plugs to make the screws tamper proof...again.

Just pointing these plugs out so that he can make sure. Kind a shocked me when one of mine fell out and i lost it.

Your fine with out putting them in they are the tamper proof plugs for the mixture screws so they are not needed.

Did you buy the O-rings from www.cycle0rings.com?

if not you are going to have to tear down your carbs again..... un less you like to....... any who also make sure the rebuild kits came with the correct jets for your bike here is a place to find the correct sizes.

just to double check that you didnt get different sized jets.

      Good luck

Well I'm definately not a carb expert and I did everything the step by step photo set said to do. Everything went back together and I put them on the bike and it won't start. But it is the same issue the bike had before. I don't know if it's the carbs however they were pretty dirty when I pulled them and rebuilt them. I have always had a problem with ignition problems on cars, bikes or boats so I'm going to take it to a mechanic and have him go over the entire bike with a fine tooth comb. I have to have this thing be dependable for my wife, starting issues are unacceptable. Unless there is a member around the Oklahoma City area who can help I'm going to take her to a mechanic this week.

Yep, those are the covers for the idle air mixture screws..I have these in a box or bag.....somewhere. No need for them

What other issues are you having ? How many miles did you say ? The mechanic is going to charge a fortune, if you can find one to work on it.
If the carbs are clean, the valves adjusted and you have spark. It should start up.

Well there are a couple of places that will work on the older stuff around here. The bike has 30000 miles and I don't know the entire history of the bike. The PO said he was the second owner but the titles in OK tell the tale. For instance the last letter on my Goldwing title is a C which means I'm the 3rd owner. The GS title is a F meaning either he lost the title 5 times or he's the 6th owner. I've just about had a snoot full of people lying to me and I don't believe a word he said. So I'm assuming the bike has been rode hard and put away wet. I'm looking at making $1000 the cut off for maintenance on the bike and if it can't be done under that then throwing in the towel.

Does it have spark???? My ignition went out on my 650 a couple years back. Do some tinkering on it yourself before taking it to a mechanic. Let us know whats going on with it and I bet someone on here will have a fix for you.

                Hey Jeff,

Do you have good fuel flow? I had to replace my vacuum petcock with a new one. I had problems with the new one. Engine wouldn't start. My petcock valve would get stuck closed on prime and on vacuum, no fuel to carbs. Just a thought.

Your wife? Take her to a mechanic? You should be working on her yourself.
