    It's Finally Running!

Thanks to everyone that gave advice on my '83 GS850L. I have been posting on here for the past few months trying to figure it out, and lots of you gave great advice.

My problem was that when I hit the throttle the bike would die. I finally realized that the engine was not creating enough vacuum for those CV carbs to work. I had low compression so I rebuilt the top end: ring job, lapped my valves, and had to replace a few shims. The bike fired up and ran great on the first attempt!

Other necessary repairs: new intake boots and o-rings, carbs dipped and rebuilt, new coil wires and spark plug caps, cleaned every connection on the wiring harness.

Now I'm riding just in time for warm weather!

    thanks!
