Sealer on Countershaft Plug?
Bolting together my 8V 1000 engine and not sure if the countershaft plug should get a layer or sealer or not. I appears that there was sealer on it before but not positive.Ed

Suzuki mad
The plugs go in unsealed and with the cramping together the plug makes a small bead that fits the the grove in the cases.

Hey Nessism, I re-used the original one on my bike and wanted to make sure it did not leak...I put a very thin layer of suzuki bond on it as I was putting the cases back together. No leaks at all. If it is new then the rubber coating on it is not disturbed and it would be fine without anything on it.
This might be one of the situations that no matter what you do it will be fine.

I'm leaning toward a very thin skim layer of case sealer when the time comes...today.Ed

Thats exactly what happened to me when I was building the 650 motor. I ordered all the seals...crank, output shaft o ring, shifter seal...etc...even the little half circle rubbers for the valve cover. Came time to build the motor I there I was staring at a 27 year old countershaft plug...doh! A thin film of suzuki bond will do you just right.
