    Broken Oil Filler Cap

My brother just picked up an 81' 650. The turning fin on the oil filler cap is broken to the point that you can't get a wrench on it to loosen it. The options as I see it for removal are 1) Tap and rethread it, just worried about metal shavings falling in or 2) replacing the entire cover. Is there any other way to get oil into the bike beside the filler hole? Have any of you had any experience with this, any help as usual is greatly appreciated.

If it is like my 850 you should be able to get it out by using a chissel and hammer. There should be enough of the old cap to hit it and get it started to turn so that you can un screw it by hand

I'll give it a try, the cap just seems to be welded on the the damn thing, its not rusted just extremely tight. I'll give the chisel a try, thanks.

If you need a replacement cap, let me know via e-mail or pm. I have a spare one in my parts bin.
