    after market exhaust

is there any after market exhaust system that runs well with stock jetting and stock air filter setup? does anyone have any experience with the mac 4 to 1 or 4 to 2 setups or the vance & hines 4 to 1 setups? thanks

It'll all run, just probably not very well.

Lots of people have experience with different exhaust set-ups.
    Use the search.

      Same or identical.

It's just a fact that when you change the exhaust, you have to re-tune the intake to match. Putting on a 4>1 exhaust will lean out the combustion mixture, high combustion heat and damage to the engine.
I'm adding that I just tuned my 550T to work well with a MAC 4>1. I replaced the stock nylon washer under the needles with 2 steel washers from the $2 variety pack available a Radio Shack. I did some road testing starting with 4 washers each and worked my way down to settle on 2 washers each. It may run even better on the top end with a slightly larger main jet.
It was a frustrating learning curve, but I got good at disassembling the needle assembly.
Best of luck, and be patient.

        Justin,

It's hard to offer advice since you didn't mention what bike you have or where you live.

Unless you are looking at used systems, V & H and Mac are the only choices here in the states - the Euro's have other options. Some members here have reported acceptable results with using these systems and the stock airbox, along with stock jetting. Not sure if this is always the case though.

          Hi Mr. JUSS10,

Mr. Nessism once mentioned the Jama system from Laser Exhaust as a stock 4-n-2 replacement. Here's a link, see if they have one for your bike.

They show a 4 into 2 replacement for my GS850. I don't know if it would require jetting changes. Hopefully you can find a local dealer.

          Thank you for your indulgence,

          BassCliff
