The main advantage to this type of engine is to optimize traction in big HP applications, or where traction is limited. Seems like a silly idea for a GS bike unless maybe for ice racing.

Ducati tried something similar with their first gen GP engine (they had a V4 with each bank of cyls firing together) but they found it destroyed the bottom ends quite rapidly - they then went to a conventional V4 firing order (and have been quite competitive ).Current:
