Exhaust bolts torque specs.
Does anyone know what the specs. are for a 1980 550 L, or how to find them?Tags: None

Did you check the factory service manual They list specific specifications for many of the bolts on the bike, and those without specific mention there is a table of general specifications based on the grade and diameter of the bolt. That said, exhaust bolts should not be very tight; they press the head pipe into the exhaust port which should have a fresh crush seal installed. A 1/4" ratchet handle and appropriate hand effort to tighten should be plenty. If you use a 3/8" ratchet handle, go easy - tighten with one hand and don't crank on it. Also, use some high temp anti-seize compound on the bolts.Ed

tscc models are 6.5 to 8.5 ft.-lb.
all other models are 6.5 to 10.0 ft.-lb. per the clymer manualI didnt do it I swear !!
