chain and sprockets change

my bike actually has a 630 non o ring chain on it. i would like to run an o ring chain. i dont think there is a 630 oring chain is there? if i switch to a 520 oring type chain i have to change the front and rear sprocket as well correct? pls i feel stupid for asking but i am drawing a blank on this one!

There are several 630 oring chains out there. Tsubaki, and DID, and RK should have what you need.

You can change over to a 530 o or x ring but you'll need to change your sprockets.It'll cost the same or less than for a 630 but you should be able to get them from any bike shop.Cheers,Simon.

anyone with any ideas re wether or not i should put a new 630 o ring chain on my existing chain and sprockets which do look good still but the chain has quite a bit of slop side to side on the sprocket and does have some tight spots. or should i replace all of my sprockets and chain at once and if so should i be going to a 530 chain and sprockets as they are supposed to be more affordable. i am not motivated by the dollars as the differenc i know wont be that much but i do want to do what is best for the bike in the long run. pls advise. thanks.

Change to the 530 chain with new sprockets. As stated they should be changed as a set. They are lighter, easier to find in case of a problem and just as strong.

Call Jeff at Z1. He's a member here and has done hundreds of these swaps. He's very knowledgable and can direct you to the right chain/sprocket combo for your needs.

Go with a 530, it's more than adequate, cheaper, and lighter. It's a no brainer. You'll need new sprockets anyway, so do the update.

well it sounds like i better get a hold of jeff at z1 and do the swap. it sounds like the right choice. thanks for all of the advice any more is still and as always appreciated. i may not follow it but i will always read it and consider it. cheers

i just did this on my 1100e i went from a 630 to a 530 got it all from z1 total cost was 178.00 that included shipping that was for sprockets chain and shims for front if i stuck with the 630 it would have cost me 33.00 more and man what a differance it made (noise wow a lot quieter) i had no idea i also found a bunch of who knows weeds bailer twine dirt grease you name wrapped up in the front sprocket and the chain just looks neater any way hope this helps and good luck by the way very simple job to do
