    no balls at all???

ok last year when i got my 81 450 it had big balls for a little bike. the problem i was having is it would stall on me at every stop i made. so i decided to clean the carbs ( dipped, new orings in carbs and intake boots ) i just did a carb sync and took it out for a ride around the neighbor hood and i have solved the stalling issue but now when you give it throttle she just putts up to speed.?? could i have the carbs adjusted wrong? im a noob at this so i guess that could be a good possability. any thoughts. thanks fellow gs'ers
    I didnt do it I swear !!

Pull the plugs and see what they look like. Fuel level in the bowls could be too low or too high.

...also a rack of carbs that are not well synched will give you the condition that you are explaining. Did you do a merc sync or just a bench sync?

i have to carbs. i did both a bench sync and i bought a set of gauges to sync them. but im a noob at this so there is a possibility i didnt do it right. guess thats why they call it trial and error lol.

That would be my guess. A GOOD sync will really wake up a bike!
Take your time and make sure that it's perfect and most likely...your put-put wil return to a VAROOOOOMMMM.

I have never sync'd my carbs and it pulls just fine. you could have missed a couple of o-rings that got destroyed in the dip, or maybe your choke bodies have a leak. it could even be a diaphragm leaking or not seating properly. I'd say take them apart, put them back together.

it's amazing what this fixes. I routinely work on 150k+ medical equip and often it is a matter of just this.

of course I get PAID to do it at work, at home is just a PITA sometimes...

but I agree, you can't ever lose power from a carb rebuild, something is off...

Do you have mercury of dial guages as a sync tool?

The mercury guages are much more accurate as the dial guages need to be calibrated to each other. If you're using dial guages you may want to swap them to see if they still read the same.

I am just saying from my experience. Carburetors don't have a black magic to them you have to master, syncing is not the magical panacea. All too often I see people throw the "sync your carbs" like it was gonna fix all your problems and do your taxes for you.

Yeah, he has more going on than a sync job. You don't even need gauges to get a decent sync on a two cylinder bike. Set the idle up then pull one plug wire at a time and compare rpm between the two cylinders.

checked my plugs and this is what i got.

the one on the left side looked new still, while the one on the right had a whit powdery look. am i running to lean on that side or to rich?

Proper syncing fixes alot of running problems, but going full throdel won't make much difference. YOU did reinstall the airbox? Recheck your carb work and make sure the airbox is in good shape and sealed

                            and black is rich

yep. everything is back together right. im not really talking about cracking the throttle, just when you give it gas it just takes forever to get going. im going to try the sync again tomorrow.
