this spring i had my '79 gs850 completely overhauled: valves done, carbs rebuilt, new gaskets, points, condensers, stator, regulator/rectifier, the works. for the past two months it had been running great. two weeks ago it started running-i thought-rich. i assumed the carb needed to be tweaked as my mechanic told me it might need an adjustment after a couple of months about town. i ran a can of sea foam through with my next tank of gas and things straightened out for about five days...then it started in again, not wanting to idle, no power, could smell the gas...finally, a couple of days ago it just cut out and won't start. i was somewhat surprised when i checked and realized i had no spark on any of my 4 cylinders...now i'm not sure where to go. when i checked the Haynes manual, it told me that both coils almost never crap out at the same time, but as far as i can tell everything else in the ignition system is brand new...could my timing just have slipped out of whack and that's why i've got no spark? can the timing go that quickly, or am i missing some vital link in the chain? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
cheers,
steve
