As an aside, it's generally recommended that the carbs should be fully taken apart and properly cleaned. Most newbies think they can get away with an abreaviated clean job and then they wind up inside the carbs two times (like you), or even more. http://www.thegsresources.com/gs_carbrebuild.htm

Yes, sounds like a needle valve.

Dry fuel bowl
Hello, Could be a couple problems. Stuck needle valve in seat, bowl gasket overlaping into float area restricting float, clogged screen on needle and seat. I feel, you will have to take it a part to find the problem. My opionion only. bmac

I was trying to get away with a quickie clean as I need the bike for work tomorrow.
Looks like I'll be in the car in the rush hour traffic then...

good cleaning
My definition of a good cleaning results in about 4 days of a carb overhaul job. One day each for the carbs to soak. I could probably do it in less time but the can of berrymans is only a gallon. So, it's one body at a time. I suppose I could buy 4 one gallon cans, But, I am in no big hurry to rush the process. I have other toys to ride!!!!!!!!!!!!! bmac

Pulled the carbs again today.
Took the bowl off No. 4 carb (the dry one). Needle valve not restricted in movement. Took off No. 3 bowl and held it's needle valve closed while spraying carb clean down the fuel inlet. Saw it come out of No. 4 so can't understand why no fuel is getting there.
Could this be fuel starvation? (I had that problem on my other 750. Dodgy fuel tap).Would that account for No. 4 not getting any?
All 3 bowls filled up VERY slowly and not at all on 'prime'. I pulled the fuel pipe off the carbs and nothing was coming out. Then I switched to 'on' and cranked the engine which produced some fuel but not much. I tried re-routing the fuel pipe and that seemed to improve the flow but still nothing in 4.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree???
