    What are these connectors?

    Hi all,

Just trying to figure out what connectors I need for the COIL mod.

The KZriders item list says to get:
    14-gauge male barrel connector
    * 12- and 18-gauge crimp-on female lug connectors

now, Im not sure about their terminology, and I know what kind of female connectors you would need for the relay, but the male barrel connector???

I guess I'll just look at what goes from the coils, but I might get an answer here before that happens later today!

Simple.....but some reason I'm just not sure.

My guess is that what they are calling a "barrel connector" is what some of us call a "butt connector".
It simply connects two wires end-to-end with crimped connections.

I soldered & shrink wrapped all mine.

      List was something like:

1 blade fuse holder. All weather type. Plus fuse (10 amp from memory).
      Ring connector for battery x 2 / + & -
      Relay socket
      Relay
14 gauge wire in two colours - enough to go from battery area to coil area.
Small ring connectors for Dyna coils x 3.

      Solder & heat shrink.

        Hi,

For my coil relay mod, I also soldered the connections and used shrink tubing. However, I used blade connectors in those spots that would make it easy to undo the mod if the relay failed and I didn't have a spare. Like these (an example from my charging system):

Using shrink tubing on these connectors makes for a more durable connection (example from my new r/r unit):

I used these connectors under the tank where I split the positive feed to the coils. If the relay fails, I can simply plug the coils back into the original wires from the harness.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

        BassCliff
