getting ready to vac-sync carbs, how to set up fuel tank?
I'm getting ready to sync and tune my carbs, my Morgan Carbtune and Colortune should be here in a week or so. Any ideas/tips/tricks for setting up the gas tank so I can get at the carbs? I didn't order one of those temp gas tank thingys, seemed kind of a waste of money, there should be a way I can set up the tank or fabricate something.Tags: None

Set the tank on something higher than the carbs.
Extend the fuel line with a piece of hose.
Plug the vacuum line coming from the carbs.
Put the tank petcock on prime.

First of all make sure it's secure. You do not want to bounce the tank off the garage floor. Here's how I did mine. It may not look stable, but trust me, it is.
Used some leftover fuel and vacuum line to reach the tank connected by a couple connector thingys....

I had on old dresser sitting in the garage, worked well.
But it would be easier with a smaller container.

You all have just proved the the old adage "necessity is the mother of invention", and doesnt it leave you feeling well pleased with youselves when an idea like that works well, I know I get pretty tickled when I manage to think up a jury-rig that works for what I need it to.sigpicSome of the totally committed probably should be.

My temporary gas tank for syncing is a universal coolant overflow tank, available for under $10 at any auto parts store.
