but the bike doesnt run for a while it will stay alive for about 4 min. if that today I couldnt get it to stay alive for more than 2 min so now I am really confused but if I can I will try and see if the coils get hot.
Let think about this logically. You hook the bike to a test tank that runs straight to the carbs, leave the cap off the test tank. When you cleaned the carbs did you set the float height correctly? Assuming that you did the bowls should fill with fuel. Open up a drain screw to see if there is gas in the bowl. Let us assume that there is gas in the bowl. The engine starts and runs for a couple of minutes then shuts off. I find it hard to believe that the float bowls have run dry and remote tank can't keep up. Do your floats..float?? After it stops check the float bowl to see if there is gas. If there is gas I would tend to think that it is not fuel related. There is no gas cap to create a vacuum, no petcock to leak or malfunction. What your describing sounds to me like an electrical problem. When the motor shuts off, pull the plugs, crank the engine and see if you have spark. When the bike was running did the stator and R/R check out OK? You said the coils were new to you, did you check the primary and secondary resistance? What about your plug wires? Have they been replaced lately? Feel the coils and the ignitor for heat.

When I worked on the bike with Jake last night, the coils didn't seem very hot. Although it hadn't been running that long.

The portable gas tank has a hole in the top of the cap so I know gas was flowing just fine. Plus, like Jake said, we would start it up after a few minutes and initially it sounded great was responsive to blipping the throttle. Then it would die. Weird .

      So issues could be

      Stator? R/R? Coils? Ignitor?

Coils and plugs look pretty new (Yellow Accell ones).

      Help us .

What is the voltage at the coils? I think something is either overheating and cutting out or something is loose.

When it cut off did it just stop dead or slowly lose power like it was struggling to idle and then cut off?

no it pretty much had its intentions once it starts to die you try and give it more gas and it is not responsive at all. it slowly cuts but very quicky then dies.

The thought of something heating up and then the engine starting to kill is what my conclutions were.

Did you guys check to see if there is fuel in the float bowls yet?

I had time to check the bowl in cyclender one but not the others( I realized that I was going to be late to class) and there was fuel. it is kind of hard to check if there is fuel because the po did a really weak paint job on the motor and if but a half a drop falls on the paint it dissolves the paint on the bike. but #1 was very white after running when I checked the other day. so this would be one of the cyclanders that is going bad.
