Ask Chef, I think he has a pretty good set of forks (both sides) off of a 1980 GS750E

I just swapped the forks from my 82 to my 80. As long as they ae both the same dia. then yes they will fit. Now, as long as the bike youre swapping to has single disk and not dual disk, a straight swap will be ok. The ones in the ad are for single front disk. I cant say for the dia of your year and model but I couldnt see why an 81 would be a different size than the 2 I have here.

You have an L model with leading axle forks. To keep the same steering geometry, you'll need forks off another L model.

I'm guessing the only difference might be in the triple tree offset, the 80/81 16V are leading axle forks as well. The 82/82 1100E went on center.

I have a set of Ls I just took off the 1980. They need new seals Im sure (werent leaking or sagging) but Im sure it couldnt hurt to do. Plus its easy as hell. PM me if youre interested.
