    Electrical part?????

I was doing a little more cleaning on the 750 last night.

I took off the cover that covers the front sprocket and behind
the front sprocket towards the front of the bike there is a electrical device that has some wires going into it going into the lower end / transmission.

    What is this?

If I was to guess its for the gear selector thing thats goes on the stock instrument cluster but I cant find any info on it.

Also does anyone know if you remove it are there gaskets involved
does it actually go into the trans?

    Thanks.

It is for the gear indicator in the gauges.

So if I was to remove it (because I dont have a instrument cluster anymore) can you just unbolt it or does it open / go into the case?

I looked at bike bandit and I cant get a good detail on it.

It's been ages since I had mine out so I don't remember if you end up with a hole in the crankcase or not. This is just a guess at this point but I would imagine you would need a block-off plate. Probably best to just leave it in place.
