    Oil Leak into Exhaust #4

1982 GS850G(z) Oil is spewing out of exhaust pipe 4. The bike starts and runs well but it seems that the oil is blowing out the valve and then burned up in the exhaust. All the pipes are hot but #4 looks like it is on fire because of the smoke escaping where the exhaust bolts on. I am no mechanic. Does anyone know what is going on here?

Either the rings are totally shot on that cylinder or the valve guide seal is toast and most likely the guide itself to be allowing that much oil to get by. Have you done a compression check?

I have not done a compression check. I do know that the cylinder is firing. Will it still fire if the ring or valve seal are blown? If they are blown will the gauge on the compression tester not pump up?

Cylinder #4 pumps up to 150psi just while hitting the start button. She will run on 3 cylinders and if I give a little throttle it will go to 170psi.
