    lookin for alot of help

i just became a proud owner of a 1979 GS1000S and its starts with the choke on but it wont stay running and/or respond under throttle twist.
it has been bench sync but other than that im lost.
    mains are 115's
pilot screws are 1 1/2 turns
fuel needles are in the middle

does any of this sound right? thanks again

If you haven't already done so, you need to strip the carbs and give them a good dip in carb cleaner and ensure all the small holes in the idle circuit, etc. are clear (not blocked). Do another bench synch when they are back together and then a vacuum synch when they are on the bike. Your other setting you mentioned seem OK.

I don’t know much about bike carbs so I’m not going to pretend too, but have the carbs been rebuilt? Or did the bike just come out of storage?

never mind, Don just took the ball to the end zone

Your 79 GS1000S was equipped with from the factory with 95 mains, is your bike stock or does it have a 4 into 1 etc which accounts for the installation of 115's. The vacuum sysnch will help.

Sounds lke the carbs are not clean to me. Because thats exactly how my bike did when i bought it. It had been sitting for 3 years or so.

But that all cleared up after i dipped each carb body for 12 hours in berrymans.

EDIT: Guess i better add what Dan mentioned and i forgot about..i replaced my intake boots and o-rings as well to get it all cleared up.

the bike ran until he took out the carbs and rebuilt them. the reson for the rebuild was adjustment screws were stripped. put it together then had to sell. it started a couple time and now it wont as of yesterday.......
