I've delt with the battery probe on all my GS11e's by splicing in a 6" piece of 14Ga. wire and attached a crimp on ring terminal, then attaching the ring terminal to the positive battery terminal. Over 50K on one and 26K on another and no adverse affects yet, not even the dreaded R/R failure syndrome

You did extremely well with your "diamond in the ruff" and "needle in
a haystack" find of the decade. And I thought I found great deals !!
After reading all of the comments. yes those stock black pipes are
rare and sought after. Only made in 2 years - 82 and 83. They
are heavy but awesome looking. They are worth more than what
you paid for the whole bike. The rest is gravy to get it up and running
like new by keeping abreast and astute with tech tips and maintenance
issues on this website.
Your bike still looks clean and intact. Minor cosmetic issues such as
the seat and side covers can all be purchased online or resellers on
this website. The red looks great with the blacked-out motor as I like
that year "E" model bike. Probably one of the best vintage naked
bikes ever made. And at 27 years old, it defies retirement.
Best thing regarding your initial inquiry - remove the battery bulb
at the intrumentation panel. It is useless !!

One last thing - looking at the pics again, you have that awesome full instrumentation package that has all of the gauges. Nice and awesome
to have. I think only the 82-83 models has this package.

OH if its an anal probe it HAS to go, I have to agree with you jadesystem I love the look of the 4-2 pipes over the 4-1. This bike was not what i expected when I told the guy over msn id take it sight unseen. It WAS going to be a donor engine for a gokart since he said it was dumped and a mess, but then he pulled up with it in the back of his truck. Lets just say the go kart plans have been re-thought
