    Do the stator papers

You may have a bad stator, connections or battery.
    Who knows until you check.

      Greetings and Salutations!!

      Hi Mr. bwarnock,

Here is your unofficial "mega-welcome". Please pay particular attention to the "Top 10 Common Issues", the Carb Rebuild Series, and the Stator Papers. As has been suggested, it's always a good idea to make sure all of the electrical connections and grounds on the entire bike (including fuse box and ignition switch) are clean and corrosion-free. Now let me roll out the welcome mat for you...

Please click here for your mega-welcome, chock full of tips, suggestions, links to vendors, and other information. Then feel free to visit my little BikeCliff website where I've been collecting the wisdom of this generous community. Don't forget, we like pictures! Not you, your bike!

Thanks for joining us. Keep us informed.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

      BassCliff

Old electrial connectors are way to commond on these old bikes. Check all connections for clean metal and tight fit. By tapping on it you may have caused the plug to make contact and then the contact was lost by ridding. Thats a good place to start good clean connectors, good luck.

          gs1100g charging

          Thankyou for your help.

I did separate wires leading to fuse box etc. and my cutting out problem is gone. Seems to be running just fine however when I did check my volts coming though to battery it showed around 12.4 when reving to 4000 rpm was around 12.8----at idle is around 12.0 ---other than that runs fine. Not sure if those numbers will sustain batter enough.

          thx Bob

            Hi Mr. bwarnock,

Those voltage numbers will probably not keep your battery charged. Go through the troubleshooting procedures in the Stator Papers to find out what is not working. Note that the Stator Papers specify starting with a known good battery when troubleshooting. You should be getting around 14.5v at the battery when revving around 4000-5000 rpm. Keep us informed.

            Thank you for your indulgence,

            BassCliff
