Oil Filler cap weeping
Hi guys, I'm trying out sort out a few leaks that I have. One that is really vexing me is the oil filler cap on the clutch cover. I bought a new o-ring, but it still weeps ( seemingly a lot). It wets about about a quarter of the clutch cover after a ride of about 10-20 miles. I'm starting to wonder if this being caused by excessive pressure in the crankcase. Any thoughts? I was running pods fora while and my breather tube was venting to the atmosphere. During colder weather, I was seeing steam come out, so I generally figured that the breather wasn't clogged. I have since replaced the OEM airbox, but I assume that te situation is the same. Although, maybe it isn't breathing enough. I don't know but this doesn't seem right to me.Tags: None

Sounds like something is wrong with the O-ring in the cap; even if crankcase pressure is building up, the O-ring should hold back leakage.Ed
To measure is to know.

Are the mating surfaces where the o ring contacts the clutch cover and inside the cap in good shape, Ted

Even without a cap it shouldn't leak really... at least I don't think so...
Try removing it while running to see if you have pressure built up there.
I wouldn't be surprised if the metal tube connection on the airbox isn't completely clogged with rust....

I'll check those things. The o-ring is from Bikebandit's microfiche and it arrived in a Suzuki labeled bag. It fit well and I cleaned the lands that it was recessed in to as well as the mating surface on the cover. Like I said, the breather seemed to pump out steam when I had pods on it ( the weather was cold then). However, it may be that the air box is clogged. I hadn't considered that.
