    leaking carbs

    hey guys,

I have a gs 750 from 1978. Its a good bike but i have a problem with the carbs. For some reason there is fuel leaking out of the overflow of one of my carbs. The strange thing is that this happens at a very periodic way, say every 30 seconds, and then it stops, only to resume 30 seconds later. Does this sound familiar to anybody? I have checked my floaters and they are ok, I have cleaned out the carbs. Is there something wrong with my vacumtube that goes from my carbs to my gasswitch? And if so, does anyone have a proper diagram of the way this vacuum system should be setup?

    Thanx

Try to clean the needle and seat again, if that doesn't work Replace them

Thanks for replying, but there is nothing wrong with the floaters, the needles or the floaterholders. Ihave checked tem extensivly and i also switched them among the four carbs. Still the problem remains in the same carb: the second one from the left. The leaking is to periodic and controlled to be just a dirty needle. It flows out the overflow in quit rapidly for maybe 10 seconds. Then it abrubtly stops asif some valve hase closed. But then it starts pouring again after another 10 seconds. And these timings are in fact quite accurate, it almost seems that the floater is working the wrong way (it does float, I checked). Besides, the leaking stops from time to time.
I have honestly no idea what this problem could be. I hope someone can help me with it. Does anybody have a repairmanual or is there one on the net?

      thanx

I know it looks good but it probably is the needle and seat. You do have the floats properly adjusted? The small springs in the needles aren`t stuck? You don`t have a float with a hole in it?? Just some things I thought might be good to look at. Good Luck ..carbs can be a bi*ch!

Check the o-rings on the float valve bodies. Fuel could be getting past them.

I just had that problem on one of my carbs. I simply adjusted the float a bit to close the needle a bit earlier. No probs now, and it really cleaned up a problem I had with that cylinder running a bit (actually alot) rich at idle. Good Luck!
