    Replacing my chain?

As I have been working on my 78 750, I noticed that the chain really seems to have a lot of horizontal play in the links. There is plenty of room to tighten it, but there is also a BIG difference in spots on the chain as far as tightness. When I adjust the "tight spot" to spec, the looser spots feel really loose. It is clearly the original 630 chain and sprockets.

I am guessing it is time for a new chain. What do the chain experts think ?

    Thanks!

Yup, time for a new chain. Most people move to a 530 since they are lighter, cheaper, and should even improve durability since they have more rollers to carry the load.
