    Float level adjustment???

Tore the carbs down on the 1980 GS550E, what should the floats be set at, the Haynes book says 26mm/1.02 inch but that looks too high. The floats in the manual look a little different from mine. The ones in the book look round but mine are black with kind of an egg shape. I used the search feature but didn't come up with anything about the measurement.

    1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
    2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

That's them. They all measure between 20 and 23 mm. I check the spare set of carbs and they all check about the same and one set was on the bike running at one time.

Take the time to set them all the same -- half a millimeter either way makes a difference.

            Hi,

Look HERE and HERE for your specs. If they are the regular Mikuni BS32SS carbs the float height is usually 22.4mm +/- 1mm, but it's best to get them as close to 22.4mm as you can. Where's your Suzuki Shop Manual? Did you look on my site?

            Thank you for your indulgence,
