Another carb question
I have a 1978 Gs1000 fitted into a dirtbike frame. My problems are when my bike is sitting at an idle it will spit and pop out the number two exhaust pipe. When it pop I can see a mist where the carb and intake boot come together. I checked the boot and clamp. The boot is clean no cracks and the clamp is tight. At high RMP it with start to spit and pop and along with white smoke. I plan on syncing the carbs tonight but I think I have more problems then just carb. Any ideas for me to check out would be great.Tags: None

Spitting and popping are signs of lean mixture
But you could have a cam timing issue if it's spitting back thru the carb hard enough to see the mixture spray
Your's is the hillclimber, right?
What jets are you running?
Any mufflers?
Any pods?1978 GS 1000 (since new)

Yeah it is a hill climber. The carbs are stock I would have to take them apart to find out the jetting. I have Uni filters and I just have hand made pipes back to the back side of the engine.

How do you check the timing on this engine? If the timing is off how would I adjust it? I am pretty new to the four cylinder engines.
