    4-1 exhaust for a 78gs1000

what would be the best 4-1 for a 78gs1000?

You'll have to define 'best'. There's Yoshi, Harris, V&H, Marshall, Harris, Motad..... - and my favourite (on looks and sound) Marving.
    79 GS1000S
    79 GS1000S (another one)
    80 GSX750
    80 GS550
    80 CB650 cafe racer
75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father

Well, what i have right now is 4-2. I want to convert it to a 4-1. Are there any bikes i can pull it from? Do I have to peice it together? what is the best way to do this and with what parts?

as for the definition of best...looks and performance and of course sound

The search function will turn up lots of info since this topic comes up all the time. Short answer: Vance and Hines is the best commonly available header still available here in the US. Mac also makes a system but it's not as well received by members here.

that pretty much sums it up... V&H and then MAC

all the others will be really rare and pretty pricey.

You can't go wrong with a Vance & Hines. The chrome is high quality. When they designed them they actually tested different diameter head-pipes for the different size engines to get it "right". Some of the cheaper companies use the same system for bikes from 750 to 1100cc. V & H usually they come with basic jetting instructions. I have several and have no complaints. Dar
