having starter issue
finally got the engine back in the bike and the harness but i think i have a issue somewhere in the wiring at the starter solenoid or at the starter disconnect switch(clutch lever) does anyone have a pic of their bike(79 550L) that can show me how there wires are ran on the solenoid and how the solenoid gets its ground..im so lost right nowTags: None

Three wires connect to the solenoid. One large one goes straight to the battery. Another large one goes straight to the starter. A third, smaller wire comes from the starter button. The solenoid is mounted to a plate on the side of the battery box and is grounded to that, but you need to make sure that the plate is also grounded to the chassis or the battery.

The solenoid case maybe be the ground so make sure where it mounts is clean and shiny. The switch wire is usually yellow/green, should have battery voltage when you hit the start button while holding the clutch in.
Good luck
