    Axillary Gas Tank

Anyone know of a commercially available small tank with a valve that can be used to adjust carbs etc. without using the stock tank?

    Thanks

I think that Z1 enterprises has one --I just use the container for the Sulfuric acid that came with my battery and an appropriate hose to plug in to it

Try a tank off of a push mower or a riding mower. I have a larger metal one but I am going to use a smaller plastic one from a push mower, easy to move around won't rust. Just an idea if you want to go the cheaper route.

Mine is a plastic universal coolant overflow tank from an auto parts store. $8 or so, I think.

It had a couple of different fittings -- just clip off the one you want to use, push on some fuel hose, add a plastic fitting to the end of the fuel hose, and add a hook made from a coat hanger. Total investment under $10.

You could add a valve, but I've never needed to. I simply unhook the tank and place it below the level of the carbs before disconnecting the fitting from the bike.

Motion Pro makes a tank for this, but it's stupidly expensive.

An empty can of Van Camps Baked Beans with a brass barb fitted to the bottom after I drilled a hole in the can. Sits on top of the frame on the rubber tank pad with a short piece of hose running to the carb. Small pair of needle nose Vice Grips for a shut off when needed. Rode it that way for road testing but with a plastic lid on the can.

                    Axillary Gas Tank

I made one out of a Mountain Dew bottle but if you want a commercial pre-made Motion Pro makes a couple.

I think you mean "recycled" the shutoff I don't think you're a thief if you use you own stuff.

I use the plastic gas tank from the snow blower i junked last Fall.

Just don't forget to plug you vac line if you use a "gravity" feed tank in lieu of the stock tank...
