Odd question about a shaft drive
I just got the GS650L in my sig. Its a shafty. While out and about today riding, I noticed it running at about 3.5 to 3k in 5th at about 55mph. It seems high to me. i know you can swap out sprockets to get better top end and better low end, but what do you do with a shafty if youre not getting the better highways speeds to RPMs?Tags: None

GS's are built to rev, so rev it!I don't see an issue.

Sweet and thanks. I plan on riding this to work and its 4o miles or so of 60+mph highway time. Im just barely remember my old Trump Bonneville. She rolled at just under 2k full out at around 60ish

Now that i've gotten used to it, it sounds fine.

I remember my 450 Honda, it would turn 5500 rpm at 60mph, I just cringed and waited thinking it would grenade itself, but it just purred along all day long, even in triple digit temps...

Yeah, they do about 14 mph per 1000 rpm.
3000 rpm is about 42 mph
4000 rpm is about 56 mph
5000 rpm is about 70 mph
No problem at all.

Mabey thats why they put the gear indicator in between the tack and the speedo, so you dont keep going for the higher gear. LOL

LOLThe thing is the GS450L that i had, it had another gear, I'm pretty sure it did. It's been awhile since I owned it. To top things off, I've got just enough room beside the 5 on my gear indicator for another digit. To be honest though, i hardly ever look at the gear indicator...i just go by the sound of things.
But I'm all used to the 850 now. It all works out.
