should swap right out, same length. you can't anodize the inner tubes they are hard chrome, the lower legs you should be able to do.

i would avoid doing anything to the inner tubes except makeing sure they are nice and smooth and polished. Paint will wear and clog wiper blades of the seals or just plain scratch off. Have a look on the internet and find one example of the inner tube of RSU forks being anything but hard chrome, i don't think you will.

            spring internals?

just get a set of progressive springs thats about all there is out there for these bikes, they help a ton. If your forks have teflon bushing i would go ahead and replace those while at it as will and the little plastic expanding c-clip that goes at the bottom the the damper rod.

sorry let me clarify my ? on paint , i ment the upper portion between the tripples. would it be safe to paint complete upper 10inch section and would the clamps slide over tubes or just paint after lower clamp installed.

It would be safe to paint the tubes in between the top and bottom of the triple tree. You'd struggle not to scratch the paint off however when re-installing the tubes as it's a pretty tight fit.

Hey! Did you buy that organ donor down in Gilroy? There was a 750 parts bike listed on Craigslist a few weeks ago.

I reckon you'd have to paint between the triples after installation & would end up re-painting every time you removed & re-installed thereafter.
