    Raising Carb Needles

I'm looking for a detail on how to do this on a CV carb. I can't seem to rid my 1100G of pretty severe light throttle leanness. How is the needle attached to the slide?

I've done this on Amals and slide type Mikunis with the clips lots of times.

    What size washers are used?

When you remove the slide from the carb, there is a circlip inside the slide. Remove it and you can get at the needle. I think I used #4 washers but I had to turn them down to match the diameter of the plastic spacer. You want to go about half the thickness of the stock spacer with the washers and then reassemble the slide. Two washers should do it.

I got a multi size electronic washer pack from Radio Shack for a couple of bucks that had some washers you can drop right in. I just went in from the top of the Carbs and did not have to pull the diaphrams or the Carbs.

I go in from the top and pull the whole needle slide AND DIAPHRAM out and work on it at a bench. MUCH EASIER. You my friend have skills to do that while the needles still sit in the carb.

this whole process can be done with the carbs stillon the bike. I agree that they are #4 washers. I used nylon from the local hardware store. Another tip was to use a pair of cheap harbor frieght fine blade needle nose pliers to grasp the two circles on the clip. I had to grind the very tip of the needle nose pliers down to fit in the circlip but it makes the whole process very fast and easy. Total cost should be about $5-6.00 including the pliers and its very well worth the effort.

I used these to pull the snap rings.
