Also the sounds vary at low rpms on increase and decrease of throttle. Kind of sounds like my drive chain does when it gets too loose, only quieter. I was wondering if it could be the Cam chain. Does anyone have any info on properly adjusting the cam chain?

Cam Chain?
My motor has developed a sort of rattle/faint clunking sound. Performance seems not to have deteriorated. I may have over filled the oil by 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart, could that cause it?

These engines have an auto-adjusting cam chain tensioner. If it isnt keeping your cam chain tensioned properly you might have to take it apart and clean it.
there is a how-to on bwringer's site:

Clutch rattle at idle is very common on the chain drive GS1000 engines. Could the noise be that?Ed
To measure is to know.
