1983 gs450 runs on left side but not both

my bike will run with the right (sitting on it) plug in. but gets black. but WON"T run whith both in. and runs pretty good with the left plug out? i'm confused.

How's the spark? Carbs cleaned and dipped? Plugs should not be getting black, if they are fouled with sooty carbon then your carbs are too rich.

carbs were dipped and new o-rings. they both get gas. new spark plugs gapped right. left plug just a little wet, right plug fluffy black. but it's the one that runs. spark looks good turned the "air" screw on the left one all the way down and up doesen't do anything

The left plug has good blue spark? If the plug is wet with gas and your getting spark then I'd check the valves and compression, maybe even timing although the right side is right and you only have two cylinders so the left would have to be right unless it was tied to the right cylinder.
