1980 gs1000e carb parts
Just very tenderly drilled out an air mixture screw from my old CV carb which was stuck and had the slot rounded out.Might be the problem with the hard starting issue I have had.Now that it is out the local dealer says it is partus unobtainabus.Did these GS 's really have plugs that had to be drilled out from the factory? Now a real search must be made to find one I suppose. Two of the air screws are missing the metal washers and one even was minus the o ring.Anyone have any luck sourcing these?Looking like I may have to ride the Harley to Two Wheels end to meet some of you guys. Also the screws were turned out two turns from the bottom. The book says 2 1/8 so the three which could be adjusted were about right I guess.Tags: None

That stinks! I have GS1000's but they are 78/79's and have VM carbs, not CV.
I am not a carb Guru so I hope someone will come along with some help.
Good Luck.http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...00080021-1.jpg

http://www.cycleorings.com/#BS_Series_O-ring_Kit you can get the o-rings here. The plugs you drilled out to get to the adjustment screws dont have to be put back on there. Thats something Suzuki put on so you couldnt adjust the mixture. Youre best bet for the rest is to watch for a set of carbs on Ebay

Well brother i will dance at your wedding for them.i have been to three shops this afternoon and found nothing but sneers. The only one who would even try to look concerned was my ol' Harley buddy. He did not even grin.I even drove around the neighborhoods trying to look behind the houses for a GS leaning up against the outside of garages to no avail.Where do old bikes go when they retire?

The difference between these is the length. Not sure which ones you need - you need to measure.Last edited by Nessism; 06-09-2009, 04:46 PM.Ed

ACtually *I* think the BIGGER difference in those is the end of the needle...on one you will see a stepped needle, on the other its tappered..and yes they are a different length as well, but i think the stepping is more important. I tried using one for the other and they fit, but was afraid to leave it installed because of the way it is...
