K&N filter oil on foam filter?

I sprayed the foam air filter from my suzuki dirt bike (87 RM250) with K&N filter oil. Ya, not a GS, but a Zook.
Is that filter oil ok on foam filters? The bike smoked a lot when i fired it up.
The filter cleaning spray in the recharge kit, is it ok to spray on a foam filter?

i put some atf on my uni foam filter

i would image as long as you didnt saturate the filter it woul dbe ok

Yes, the K&N spray oil works fine on the Uni-type foam filters. Just don't over-oil. Squeeze out the excess using paper towels if necessary.
