Hi Alex,

spark plug leads
coils
signal generator
signal amp (CDI)
shorted out wires.

Has to be one or a combination, follow the manual for diagnostic tests for each part.

Does your machine only have the one fuse? (My 450 has only one but I don't know about the 550)
If theres only one and the lights are on then its good. So will the kill switch in the run postion, key on, etc etc. the engine cranks but no spark when you've got a plug grounded against the cases?

I guess the next point would be to see if the connections leading into the coils are ok. If they're getting power then test the coils themselves.

Can anyone help with this tech problem? Was passing on my 83 gs550es when it just died like I had hit the kill switch. The main 15amp fuse was blown, I replaced it and all the lights worked and the engine cranks over fine but no spark at all. The Haynes manual seems a little vague where to start looking you guys got any idea where I should start?

(it was only my second ride of the season so I am suffering from big-time withdraw)

No spark

Before you tear into everything, after checking for spark at at least 2 plugs(remember 1&4 and 2&3 are on the same coils)check for continuity on the kill switch. I've chased around only to find a weak spring on a kill switch. But then it wouldn't crank either :roll: ... nevermind these idle ramblings of mine today
