Wiring connectors

I'm adding saddlebags to my 1980 GS850GT that have lights built into them.

I need to wire these bags in and would like to know where I can get those wire connectors that slip into one another and have the plastic weather protection around them. I would like to get the same ones that are on the bike so I can switch between saddlebags and stock turn signals with ease.

Also, if anyone has any tips about me wiring these up as running lights as well as turn signals, let me know. Thanks!

First of all the indicators need to be the kind with 3 wires if the indicator body is not grounded or 2 if the indicator uses ground as the third wire.
I have wired in at least 3 bikes this way and I just splice into the tail light power for the power to the running light portion [ less bright ] of the indicator. For connectors just run down to the local auto parts store for the male- female connectors, I think 18 guage is red in color. Good idea to wire in running lights in the rear, gives better rear visabilty to the drunk in a car that might rear end you. Not sure about the law though.

I would consider doing the relay mod to the headlight. I have not done it yet and run a Vetter trunk with four lights. Outboard lights are turn signals along with the turn signals that came with the bike. The inboard ones are wired into the tail-light/brake light. Power to the headlight drops to 9 volts. Running all the lights (for high visibility) has it's costs. I am thinking of switching to LED versions of the 1157 and 1156 to reduce power consumption (they draw 1/10th the power and last long enough that they pay for themselves). Irritating when lights start dimming when you cut in the turn signals.

I have a similar set up on my GS850 Lights would dim when brake light activated WAS loosing voltage thru the ign switch. rewired the ign with a relay NO more problems

LED lights

This guy has both wide and narrow angle LEDs. Shipping is not outrageous through him either. Nice thing is he has clear. You see alot of red and amber but clear is hard to come by. http://www.geocities.com/acura99integra/index.htm

Thanks for the link. There are wedge based LEDs there as well that I think can replace the guages lights.
