I was thinking of flatening one of the tabs on the clamp, cutting it back, drilling a new hole and bending a new tab. This would allow the clamp to tighten more and it would be free! My boots are still plyable and don't have any holes that I can see.

I think it could work...no? I don't have a clamp infront of me right now.
I've done that and it worked well to get a bike on the road right away. You just have to be very careful about getting the hole in the exact center of the clamp...off to one side a bit and you're done. It will break. Clamps are not that expensive, so you can always use this as a temp fix until the new ones come it. But it will work to seal the sloppy boot.

      McMaster Carr

my 2cents. I have used some hose clamps from McMaster Carr previously for custom applications or where the OE are really expensive. They have some narrow width hose clamps that look nice, work well, and are a good price. Shipping for me from Mcmaster is usually about $5-6 bucks! Plus the hose clamps allow you to clamp in the situations were the boot shrinks and the OE clamps don't fit well anymore. Good luck!

You can puchase good ones from schnitz racing just go to there web site schnitzracing.com and search for part#0539-2540 these fit 25-40mm carb boots for 2.47 ea.they have a hex head on them so you can tighten up with a small socket or nut driver as well as a screw driver if you wish they work great i have them on my GS1100e drag bike with 40mm flat slides and they work great you can crank them realy tight and they fit the recessed grove on the boot just like the factory ones so they wont move
