Boiling Carburetors
I heard of a procedure where carburetor metal parts are boiled clean. Has anyone heard of this? Have done it? How is it done? I have some bad green build up in mine.

You can boil the carb bodies once you have them taken apart but in my experience they don't come as clean as using carb dip. If you decide to boil them with lemon juice like some advocate, don't boil very long or the carb bodies will turn dark gray (I learned the hard way).Ed
To measure is to know.

My standard method for carb cleaning (we can't get those 'naughty' carb cleaning chemicals in the UK that you can in the US). I add a drop of washing up liquid (dish cleaning detergent if that translates better) and simmer away in an old pan.79 GS1000S

Don't tell anybody, but I have enough mercury in my garage to declare all of southwest oHIo a Hazmat area if it all spills.
It's kept under lock and key to keep out some of the riff-raff.

Isn't southwest OH already a disaster area?
I'm just glad the government knows what's best for me.
