    bending an ali foot plate

i need to bend the heel plate on my foot rest to give a bit more clearance on the hugger,
its cast so whats the best method to bend it? only needs a couple of mm so do i need to heat it up or will it flex enough without snapping it or cracking it?
    cheers

If it's cast, it's probably also reinforced on the back side, so no amount of heating is going to allow you to bend it.

Have you tried using washers or spacers behind it to move the whole thing out?

thats my back up option but want to avoid it if i can. didnt think bending would be feasable but would have been a better option if i could

Cast aluminum doesn't bend well, but it does break. I would use spacers.

If you don't want to use spacers, what is the possibility of filing away some of the
mounting surface to change the angle at which the bracket mounts?

i think i will go for the spacer option. i only need about 1mm extra clearance so a washer behind the foot rest mount should be ok. just hope it dont make the pegs look lop sided, may have to space out the r/h peg as well
