What do you add to low battery?

I was looking at my battery last night and noticed it was really low on fluid when I opened the top. What do you add? I had heard something about electrolyte but I am not sure about that or where to buy it or if you just add it straight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Distilled water only.

      Height.

      N E V E R add electrolyte/acid except when doing the initial fill.

After that use water only to raise the levels to marked height in the cells.

As noted distilled water is recommended, to avoid contamination.

Not to make fun, but if you don't know what to put in it, you may not know how to fill it either. DO NOT OVERFILL. You really need to take the battery out of the bike. Very small hole to pour water in. Remember the old mustard & ketsup squirters, at restaurants, they work as good as anything for filling a bike batt.

          Thanks

Thankyou for the advice. I have always used distilled water when refilling my batteries, but this "battery guru" at my work said that it would ruin the battery and I needed to add electrolyte. That is why I asked because he was so sure distilled water would ruin the battery. Distilled water is what I have always done but just thought I would ask. Thanks again. The tip for using an old mustard or ketchup bottle is a great idea.

Your battery "guru" would appear to be an idiot. Maybe you should show him this

Great information for the "guru." I will pass it on. It is frustrating when you are having a conversation with someone and the "guru" decides to put in their two cents if you know what I mean. Thanks again.

Listen to all opinions, weigh them out, like you have done here, then do what you feel comfy with. But no acid in batt., after initial fill.

I did not take time to read the info in that link ( I did bookmark it to read it later), but just for general knowledge, it's the water that boils out of the battery, not the acid. This leaves the acid in a stronger concentration (which, incidentally, is not better for the battery) and thus requires only the addition of distilled water to bring the level back up.

The only time you should add acid to a battery after the initial fill would be if you happen to tip it over and lose some acid. I have only seen this happen once, so most people would not even consider this as a possibility.

You should be careful when your using acid, man.
Sometimes you can have a bad trip and you dont want that. Trust me.

If your battery is low you could try ritalin , viagra, prozac or just mix all three together. Caution dont drink too much while you are doing this or you will be enclined to trip. Then youll have battery acid everywhere , and you dont want that. Trust me.
