How do I get the fly wheel off

I received the puller today. How do I prevent the crank from turning, so that I can pull the fly wheel off???

I use a large flat screw driver between the screw drive on the puller and one of the arms on the puller.

The puller I got is just a bolt with a long head. It is an internal type. I don't see how I can prevent the crank from turning so the rotor can be pulled of of the shaft.

Did you get the rotor bolt off yet? That's the hard part.

        To measure is to know.

Yes, I did, and surprisingly enough, the rotor came off pretty easily too with a 1/2" impact wrench. It popped right off. I see that the three bolts that hold the clutch onto the rotor, sheared off. Now how do I get them out of the rotor??? Also, there is a copper washer that is behind that big gear that is really buggered up. Hopefully this is coming with the new starter clutch.

Put a penny between the flywheel gear & the smaller gear that runs on it. Sorry I posted the same time as the prior one

Sounds like you are going to have to drill out those broken screws. Try to center punch the bolt and then start with a small bit and work up. A drill press is recommended so you drill straight.

Regarding the thrust washer and bolts, you might have to order those separate. Better check the parts fishe.

Thanks, I will look at the fishe now.

It looks like the bolts comes with the starter clutch set, but not sure about the crush washer. I think I might be able to reuse this.

If you have the 3 bolts at the rear that are sheered off, THROW THE ROTOR AWAY.
Because if you put new bolts in they will do the same thing.
Scan ebay or members for another rotor and dont forget NEW dowels and springs for the starter clutch mechanism.
