I've since replaced the float needles as they were slightly grooved.......but the problem was that it was being left in the prime position all the time and since the prime system goes to that right side carb I think that was our problem!!!!

Problem is corrected now that the petcock is in the right postion!

for all of you jerks that want to say " do a search" I did and found only 1 thread that is remotely close and the guy says he has a 3 O'clock position, 6 O'clock position, and a 9 O'clock position.......WTF!!!

        Do a better search.

I found this thread in five seconds. It answers your question.

I typed "1985 GS550ES petcock" in the search feature, and, sure enough, up it popped.

        Jerk.

You're the one who called people jerks to begin with. And it isn't the first time you've gotten crappy for no reason because you're frustrated with something and you take it out on people here.

It's guys like you who have made the technical forum almost as cantankerous as the off topic forum here, because you demand answers and get angry when you either don't get instant solutions to your questions, or don't like the answers you get when people try to help you.

Take a Xanax or something. Geez.

Im not at all sure you will be missed. I simply dont understand the attitude. Napoleon syndrome? Childhood neglect? I mean, i deal with A LOT of stress in my job. I cant recall one time ever acting like an ass hole like THAT. To be honest, im amazed that bike of yours is even together. You cant seem to figure out a search function, let alone a petcock, and then EVERYONE ELSE are a bunch of *******S for it? Im scared for you the first time you throw it into a corner, you might not come out the other side...

Owning in old motorcycle requires patience, understanding and a good sense of humor...

Perhaps you should buy a new bike, with a warranty....

Wait...I get it.....you can insult everyone here and call us jerks and then get angry when someone shows you the answer that you missed while searching ?!?!?!? You should feel fortunate you found the correct answer, instead of attacking someone verifying the answer you got.

Well, he was sorta right in the first post when he didn't want "the jerks" to just tell him to do a search, when he tried and failed.

Now, not only is he spoon-fed the results of a search, but he is politely shown what the search parameters were, for future reference.

And, he gets ticked off even worse.

Just for that, I might not participate any more, either.
