I recently purchased a 1981 GS550T for about 600 dollars because I desparately have been wanting a motorcycle so i figured this would be a good starter bike.
The bike has been sitting for awhile but started and ran however it did the "gs popping" sound at idle and steady throttle. I took it to the stealership and got it running right. At least it did for a day. It started to lose power and die when i would come to a stop if i let off the throttle. Also the plugs are fouling every day or so which i believe is becuse they poured some engine cleaner called "Ring Free" in the tank. I beleive it is like Seafoam but much stouter.
So i figured i would pull the Carbs off and clean them out. When i put them back on, i messed up somewhere because it doesnt seem like it lined up on the air intake as well as it should and now when it starts there is a leak from the valves on the carb rail (and by leak, it is like a waterfall) i do not know if this is because when i tried to start it after putting the carbs back on i used the Prime setting. Unfortunately before i got a chance to troubleshoot i must have jacked some wiring or something up beacuse now when i turn the key i get nothing. no lights, no start no nothing. i have checked all fuses and the battery is good and i really would like some guidance if it is not too much to ask because i am tired of taking the wife;s vehicle to work.
Thanks for any help and time that is given.
