    carb/petcock vacuum hose location

I apologize if this has been covered before. I did a search and found the answer for a later model set of carbs but couldn't find the answer to the set of stock Mikunis on my '79 GS1000S carbs. I'm looking for where to correctly plug the vacuum hose from the back of the petcock into the carb, and which one. I see three hose nipples on the back of the carbs..is this where the vacuum line attaches? And does it go on the inboard-left carb nipple? Again, forgive me if this is a redundant question, but I need someone in the know to help me out here. This is all that's holding me up from getting this bike back on the road. As it is right now, the bike is starving for fuel, even though plenty is coming through the petcock in the Pri position. I have the vacuum hose plugged into the inboard left carb nipple at the moment, and it's still starving. Just trying to eliminate possibilities at this point, because the bike runs perfect with an outside source of gas just plugged into the main fuel line (w/no vacuum hose). Thanks very much.

If you have 3-nipples to attach to on the top of 3 carb bodies, I'm somewhat confused. To my knowledge it should go on either the #3 carb (for that bike/carb set up) or the #2 for most others. Someone here will confirm this as I've not worked on a 10,000S before.

On the '79 vm26 carbs, the vacuum line that attaches to the petcock comes from the #3 carb. And the bigger nipple on the petcock goes to the "T" between carbs 2 & 3.

Thanks, tas..according to your description, I have it correct. #3 carb, second from the left. That seemed the logical place because it virtually points to it when the tank is on the bike. The far left carb (#4) doesn't even have a hose nipple on it. What are the other two nipples for on carbs 1 & 2..? When I got the bike there were no hoses what-so-ever on the carbs, so I just ran hoses off the carb nipples like if they were vent tubes down behind the engine with the other carb drain hoses..hmmmm..is that necessary? I did get the bike running correctly again, though. After messing around with it this morning, the center two carbs had slightly sticky floats from sitting for several months after running it the last time.

far left carb is #1 and far right carb is #4 if you are sitting on the bike.

Ahhh..my first Suzuki..still learning. So does that mean that I need to move the hose over one to the second one from the right as compared to the second one from the left that it's now plugged into, or does it make any difference..? Thanks very much for your help.

Thank you, David. Very appreciated. This S model is waiting to be on the street for the first time in a decade. Can't wait to ride it.

I think you pretty much got it for the fuel lines.

T between 1&2 and T between 3&4 are vent lines.

So the '79 1000 vacuum hose differs from the '79 850 vacuum hose from the carb to the petcock? Mine is on #3.
