82 GS850GL cold start/fast idle after warm up

bike has 9K, sat last 6 years, repl petcock w/new suzuki part, had carbs cleaned 3 times by one guy, then again by another guy, repl o rings at carb boots, new battery, hard to start cold, then revs up to around 3000 when you pull in clutch, tank has been cleaned and sealed, runs very strong when warm. Has stock carbs, stock pipes, someone installed k&n filter in stock air box

    Welcome.
Hard starting is a sure sign of a needed valve adjustment. See Cliff's site for the tutorial on adjusting 8 valve engines and alot of other great stuff.

Most likely the intake boot O-rings are leaking leading to the high idle...
