1100 clutch springs in a 750

Will the GS1100 clutch springs fit the 16 valve GS750 (1981). The 1100 springs are about .080 longer than the 750 springs. Anyone ever do this. Need stiffer springs for the hot rodded GS750E. Please advise and thanks.

Couldn't hurt to try. I run with the Barnett HD clutch springs. Wouldn't grab until I did.

Thanks guys for your rersponses. Put them in and everything seems fine. Clutch no longer slips and pull is good and firm. BUT,...now the clutch drags cannnot adjust that out. Have to toe it into neutral as it is rolling to a stop...IMPOSSIBLE now to get into neutral at a stop with clutch pulled in. I'm thinking they are too long and preventing the pressure plate from traveling far enough to allow the plates to slid over each other. Giving it too much friction and loads up the trans. If that is the case...staggering the springs with the OEM 750 springs will still not allow enough pressure plate travel. Just wanted to know if anyone has had success installing 1100 springs into the 750 16 valve engine. Thanks again.

The GS750 16 valve and the GS1100 take the same spring. I checked the updated part numbers nd they are the same for both engines. SORRY.. I should have checked that out first. Thanks again for your input. How ever the cover gaskets are NOT the same..even though they look the same.

I was thinking ... "how are you going to fit 1100 springs in there when there are only spaces for 6?",
then I see that you are talking about GS1100 springs.

Back on a serious note, are you sure that the 750 springs are full length, or are they compressed due to age?
Might be possible you are measuring new springs against old, tired springs?
