    Crash Guards

were there any companies that made crash guards for a 1982 GS300L
    Z model?

    Just curious.

I got MC Enterprises case guards for my 1100GL at Dennis Kirk. Not sure they make them for your model.
    1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser
    1983 GS 1100 G
2000 Suzuki Intruder 1500, "Piggy Sue"
2000 GSF 1200 Bandit (totaled in deer strike)
1986 Suzuki Cavalcade GV 1400 LX (SOLD)

I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.

Ours had crash guards on it when we got it.

I will look to see if I can find a manufacturer.

You really shouldn't have a big problem if the bike falls over due to narrowness of the engine. I would run it without them.
NO PIC THANKS TO FOTO BUCKET FOR BEING RIDICULOUS
