    1980 gs1000s #1 cylinder trouble

I'm getting blowback out of the #1 cylinder to the point that it blows back through the #1 carb does anyone know what this may be? It also will pop when it does this, the bike is a restoration project I've started so I don't know much about its history.

First thing I would do is check the valve clearances. Second, would be compression check.

Oh, welcome to the forum too.

Yes yes, valve adjustment, compression check, and a FULL carb disassembly and cleaning, including replacing the necessary internal Orings, as well as the Orings around the intake boots, all of which can be obtained on the relatively cheap from this site
      www.cycleorings.com

This gent, Robert Barr, is also a forum member, and has done A LOT for getting these bikes back on the road with offering up these rebuild oring kits... worth every penny.

You will find all kinds of good info here... http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Make sure you follow the valve adjustment procedure as stated in Basscliff's tutorial if you want the best results.
